OH Engine Nearly Falls Through Floor of Station

Plans to replace the 1934 firehouse in Brookside may be put on the fast track.

An Ohio fire department had plans to replace its firehouse. Now, that project may be on the fast track.

That's because the Brookside fire engine nearly fell into the basement Wednesday night.

Assistant Fire Chief Allan Ketzell II told WTRF he was backing the fire truck into the garage when he heard a noise.

He discovered a hole in the floor, one big enough he could see into the basement of the 1934 firehouse.

All the apparatus has been moved out. Firefighters were in the process of planning a new firehouse, he said.
